Presidential Election Calendar
The Presidential Election Calendar is a simple-to-use resource where users can find the date of the most recent presidential election, and where possible, the date of the next presidential election, for the 20 Latin American countries that the SIGLA database will eventually include, with the exception of Cuba, which selects its president through a vote by the legislature rather than direct popular election.
The Date of Most Recent Presidential Election provides the date on which a country’s last presidential election took place; in the case of elections that had 2 rounds, this date corresponds to the 1st round. The Date of Next Presidential Election gives the date of a country’s next presidential election, which could be the date announced by the electoral authority or the expected date according to legal stipulations regarding the timing of elections. Elections are presented in reverse chronological order by Date of Most Recent Presidential Election.
For additional details on elections in these countries, users can consult SIGLA’s Electoral Calendar and Outcomes page.
